W.J. Keenan salvages third place at the Chick-Fil-A Classic

The W.J. Keenan Raiders pull off a dramatic win over Charlotte's Independence High School.

Dillon Jones bucket with less than 10 seconds left lifted W.J. Keenan to a 60-58 win over Independence High School from Charlotte in Saturday's third-place game in the American Division of the Chick-Fil-A Classic.

Jones finished with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Assanti Price led the Raiders with 20 points.

W.J. Keenan was up 58-55 when Raja Milton hit a three-pointer to tie the game. But Jones would put the Raiders up as he drove to the bucket and scored. Independence had one last chance to tie but could not convert.

In the championship game of the American Division, the state's top-ranked team, defending two-time 5A state champion Dorman, lost to Salesian College Prep from Richmond California 45-39.

In the National Division, Bella Vista Prep from Scottsdale, Arizona won that title with a 55-46 win over St. Frances of Maryland.
