COLUMBIA, S.C. — Look for temperatures that are generally near or slightly below normal over the next week. Showers are forecast to move out of the state later today. Gusty winds will bring some drier air in briefly late Wednesday into Thanksgiving Day, before the pattern becomes a bit more uncertain for the late week and the weekend.

The Midlands received some much-needed rainfall yesterday and today. The Columbia airport got 0.91” of rain Tuesday. As of 8 a.m. Wednesday, the Columbia airport had gotten an additional 1:62” of rain. The record rainfall for today is 1.98 inches, set in 1985.

Most of the rain has moved out of the Midlands at this point, but a secondary front will push through the area later today. As the second front moves through, a stray shower cannot be ruled out. Winds will begin to shift out of the west as drier air spills in. Some strong gusts will be possible this afternoon. Highs will be in the middle to upper 60s today.

Skies are forecast to be mostly sunny for Thanksgiving Day. Temperatures will start off in the upper 30s and lower 40s, but during the afternoon, highs will rebound into the lower 60s.

A few more clouds will move into the area late Thursday and into Friday. As of now, we are not expecting any rain on Friday.

A cool-air wedge is expected to develop over the weekend. This should keep our temperatures below normal. The clouds will linger Saturday and Sunday. High temperatures are forecast for the middle to upper 50s.
