GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. — A high-tech manufacturer of autonomous vehicles has announced its intention to invest $2.6 million in a new test facility in South Carolina's Greenville County.
With existing facilities in western Pennsylvania and Munich, Germany, Argo AI will establish a new closed-course track in the SC Technology and Aviation Center outside of Greenville for development and testing of its self-driving vehicle technology. The company has partnerships with automakers Ford and Volkswagen and companies such as Walmart and Lyft to create vehicles that use Argo's Autonomy Platform to operate self-driving vehicles for delivery and ridesharing services around the world.
The Greenville site will be Argo's third closed-course facility and will be dedicated to highway-speed testing for the company's advancement toward autonomous operations across multiple urban areas. The facility is expected to be operational later this year.
