Bill Cosby asked folks on Twitter to turn him into a meme on Monday -- and it did not go well. The tweet has since been deleted.

Known primarily for his sitcom The Cosby Show, the comedian settled a lawsuit in 2006 with a woman who claimed he had drugged and sexually assaulted her, according to the Associated Press.

Some folks on social media decided to use derogatory language toward Cosby, creating memes using the hashtag #CosbyMeme.

Others poked fun at the concept, because it's had unintended consequences for other organizations.

When the New York Police Department asked people to tweet photos they've taken with the city's officers in April, some tweeters have used the hashtag #myNYPD to post pictures of police brutality.
