COLUMBIA, S.C. — There is a new tool available to connect key players of industry and education within the state of South Carolina.

SC Council of Competitiveness (SC Competes), along with education, business and workforce partners, has developed SC Asset Network (SCAN), an interactive map that allows the user to seek and find areas where industry and education intersect. For instance, using the map to zone in on a portion of Gervais Street in downtown Columbia highlights 52 assets -- colleges and universities, businesses and technology locations -- that could connect or collaborate on an idea or project solution, or prove to be a possible lead for a job seeker.

The assets bar on the left allows users to filter responses by keywords such as specific company names, industry sub-sectors, and partnerships.

"We are excited to introduce the SC Asset Network mapping tool, which represents a significant step forward in promoting collaboration and growth within South Carolina's key industries," said Susie Shannon, President and CEO of SC Competes. "SCAN not only showcases the diverse range of companies and education and workforce training programs in our state, but also facilitates networking opportunities and fosters innovation."

South Carolina companies working in technology, cybersecurity, logistics, or aerospace who aren’t yet featured on the map can submit their information to “Get on the Map.” Submitted companies will be reviewed and added to the map within 10 business days, further enhancing the tool's utility and relevance.
