Injured harbor seal found on Myrtle Beach Wednesday

Officials are tending to a seal with an apparent shark bite injury found on Myrtle Beach Wednesday morning.

An injured seal found on Myrtle Beach Wednesday morning appears to have a shark bite injury to its flipper, according to officials with the S.C. Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR).

Officials say what appears to be a harbor seal was found washed up on the beach near 30th Avenue North at Myrtle Beach around 11 a.m. Wednesday.

The seal appears to be a small harbor seal that has a shark bite injury to its flipper, SCDNR officials say. A veterinarian was on the scene early Wednesday afternoon to examine the seal and determine the extent of its injuries.
