COLUMBIA, SC (WLTX) -- Customers using Time Warner Cable's RoadRunner email service in cities across the country have been unable to access email for the last few days.

Time Warner Cable representatives say less than 10% of all their customers are affected by the intermittent outages.

TWC's website touts having over 15 million customers across 29 states, which means as many as 1.5 million users may be affected, though this is only affecting residential customer email service.

For a large number of internet users, when service for the home is acquired, email accounts for everyone in the home is set up through the internet service provider. Comcast, AT&T, Verizon, and most other internet providers offer the same email services.

Complaints have been logged by TWC's Road Runner customers on Time Warner's online customer service forums, their Facebook page by the hundreds, and on numerous other user community forums across the internet.

When asked for specifics, Time Warner's reps would only state 'Customers in multiple markets are affected, but the issue is intermittent."

No information was provided to us about the root cause of the RoadRunner email problem, only this statement: "Some of our internet customers who use RoadRunner email have been affected by an intermittent issue. Our engineers are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible and we are sorry for any inconvenience."

Similar to the statement that appears across the TWC Customer Service page: "We are experiencing issues with the TWC Mail system. We are actively working to troubleshoot and restore access to your email. We thank you for your patience and apologize for the inconvenience."

The company's website did not provide any other information regarding the RoadRunner email outage, and the customer service representatives responding to users in the forum can't offer any other solutions to the issue.

Time Warner Cable and Comcast Cable had announced a planned merger worth over $45 billion dollars back in February.
