COLUMBIA, S.C. — An early morning single vehicle accident involving a COMET transit bus has injured ten people, according to first responders from the Columbia Fire Department.
The incident occurred near the intersection of Colonial Drive and Surrey Street in north Columbia around 9 a.m. Monday, July 25.
Firefighters arriving at the scene found the bus off the road and backwards down an embankment. Only the bus was involved in the incident.
According to rescue crews, multiple riders were removed from the bus and 10 patients, including the driver, were transported to an area hospital.
Two trucks were able to remove the bus and the intersection is now back open to traffic.
