LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. — The Lexington County Coroner's Office says a 68-year-old man has died at the hospital after a crash that happened on Saturday evening.
According to Coroner Margaret Fisher, the crash happened around 6 p.m. in the 200 block of Jamil Road - which is near Jamil Shrine Temple alongside I-26.
Fisher said Daniel Nelson Gibbons III of Columbia was walking along Jamil Road when he was hit by a vehicle that was heading north. Gibbons was taken to the hospital but died of the injuries he received in the crash.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is also investigating the crash. Master Trooper Brandon Bolt said that the driver of the Cadillac sedan involved in the crash was not injured and added that Gibbons was attempting to cross the road when he was hit.
