Four dead after accident on US 21 in Orangeburg County

Troopers say the accident happened around 7:46 am Tuesday on US-21 at Waterspring Road, just about four miles north of Orangeburg.

ORANGEBURG, S.C. — Four people are dead after a traffic accident along a highway in Orangeburg County. 

Troopers with South Carolina Highway Patrol say the accident happened around 7:46 am Tuesday on US-21 at Waterspring Road, just about four miles north of Orangeburg.

Troopers say the driver of a pickup truck and a Nissan were traveling north on US-21. An Audi, which was traveling south on US 21, collided with the Nissan Murano. The pickup truck then collided with the Murano as well.

The Audi  and the Nissan Murano both had two occupants, and all four died at the scene, according to troopers. The one occupant of the pickup truck was not injured.

US-21 reopened around 3:20 pm, according to Orangeburg Fire. 

The accident remains under investigation by South Carolina Highway Patrol.
