Columbia Water to close portion of Williams Street, temporarily cut service in surrounding area for main line repairs, beginning Dec. 4

Road closure will be in place until repairs are completed, water service will be disrupted or result in lower pressure during work time

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Commuters in the Canalside area of Columbia's Vista should be aware of a temporary planned road closure by the City of Columbia Water beginning Tuesday, Dec. 5.

Columbia Water will be doing extensive repairs to a 42-inch water main adjacent to the Columbia Canal Water Treatment Plant at 300 Laurel St. The work will cause road closure on Blanding Street, from Gist to Williams streets, and Williams Street, from Blanding to Taylor streets.

Detour signage will be in place, and motorists are asked to use patience and caution in the area.

During this time, Columbia Water service may be temporarily disrupted or there may be lower water pressure in the area surrounding the Columbia Canal Water Treatment Plant at 300 Laurel St. (see map below)
