LEE COUNTY, S.C. — One person is dead following a Friday afternoon crash in Lee County involving a tractor-trailer and a car.
According to Corporal Tyler Tidwell with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 2:20 p.m. on U.S. 15, also known as Sumter Highway, near I-20. Tidwell said the crash involved a 2020 Volvo tractor-trailer heading north on U.S. 15 and attempting to make a left turn onto westbound I-20. Tidwell said the collision happened when a 2019 Chevrolet sedan heading north in the southbound lanes sideswiped the tractor-trailer.
The driver and only occupant of the sedan died as a result of the crash. The Lee County Coroner's Office hasn't publicly released the name of the victim.
