LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. — The Lexington County Coroner's Office has identified the victim killed in Saturday morning's South Lake Drive crash as a West Columbia teen.
According to Lance Corporal Nick Pye with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 2 a.m. on South Lake Drive near Nazareth Road which is in the Red Bank area.
Based on a preliminary investigation, authorities believe a 1998 Dodge SUV was traveling east on South Lake Drive and a 2013 Ford sedan was traveling west when they collided.
Two people in the Dodge were injured and taken to the hospital. A passenger in the Ford was also seriously injured. The driver of the Ford, identified as 17-year-old Connor George Ilisie of West Columbia, died. The driver of the Dodge was taken to the hospital with injuries that are not expected to be life-threatening.
The coroner's office said the crash happened after the Ford crossed the center line. Neither Ilisie nor his passenger was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
