COLUMBIA, S.C. — Drivers on westbound I-20 should expect congestion as they head into mid-afternoon traffic due to a tractor-trailer crash north of Columbia.
Corporal Tyler Tidwell with the South Carolina Highway Patrol confirmed that a crash happened on I-20 near mile marker 70 around 2:41 p.m. He said that, based on data entered regarding the crash on state systems, the truck was heading west and struck a guardrail.
While the vehicle itself is mostly off the main roads, emergency responders have two lanes blocked.
Additional details regarding the crash and when it will be cleared were not available at the time. However, as of 3:25 p.m., South Carolina Department of Transportation traffic maps show traffic backed up from Fairfield Road past Farrow Road with traffic beginning to slow beyond it.
Drivers should be aware and, if possible, find another route.
