RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. — Authorities say one person has died following a crash involving a car and a train in Richland County.
Master Trooper Brian Lee with the South Carolina Highway Patrol reports that the crash happened just before 5 p.m. and involved a 2017 Hyundai Sonata and a train.
Lee said the vehicle was traveling south on Hobart Road and struck the train, killing the driver. Per protocol, the name of the driver was withheld with the South Carolina Highway Patrol deferring to the coroner's office for more information. Highway Patrol is still investigating the crash.
Hobart Road connects Farrow Road to the nearby Brookhaven community north of Columbia.
