KERSHAW COUNTY, S.C. — Authorities say one person has died in a two-vehicle crash in Kershaw County that comes as the region has continued to see heavy rain throughout the day.
According to Lance Corporal Tyler Tidwell with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash happened on Sunday around 3:30 p.m. along Ridgeway Road.
Based on the information available at this time, a 2008 Nissan 350Z was heading east on the road near Carriage Lane - roughly 9 miles west of Camden - when it spun out and was struck by a 2014 Ford F-150 pickup truck heading the opposite direction.
The driver, and only occupant of the Ford truck, was taken to an area hospital with undisclosed injuries. However, the driver of the Nissan died at the scene of the crash.
The Kershaw County Coroner's Office has not yet released the name of the deceased driver. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
