COLUMBIA, S.C. — A Saturday evening crash in Columbia ended with the death of a driver, police confirmed the following morning.
According to the Columbia Police Department, the two-vehicle crash happened at the intersection of Laurel and Assembly streets around 9 p.m. The collision led to a temporary road closure as police investigated the incident and spoke to witnesses.
Both drivers were taken to the hospital, police said. On Sunday, police confirmed that one male driver had died from injuries sustained in the crash. Authorities haven't said how the crash occurred, and the Richland County Coroner's Office hasn't yet identified the deceased driver publicly.
