SALUDA COUNTY, S.C. — A Saluda County highway has reopened after a crash and resulting fuel spill closed it for hours.

According to Saluda County Fire Services, Denny Highway was initially shut down in both directions from Long Road to East Wheeler Circle due to an incident later confirmed by Sheriff Josh Price to be a crash and fuel spill.

Price said that there had been a two-vehicle wreck involving a tractor-trailer. The tractor-trailer turned over in the wreck and began leaking fuel.

HAZMAT teams were called to the scene alongside the sheriff's office, the Saluda County Fire Service, Saluda County Emergency Services, and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Authorities confirmed just before 3:30 p.m. that the road was clear and back open.
