RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. — A gas leak along Leesburg Road in Richland County that led to an hours-long road shutdown has been repaired.
Dominion Energy confirmed Thursday evening it had completed work on the rupture and had cleared the scene.
The utility said the leak happened near Lower Richland Boulevard around 9 a.m. due to a third party performing excavation work in the area. Columbia-Richland Fire was initially sent to the scene but was able to leave once the scene was contained enough that they were able to clear the scene.
However, the road remains closed for hours while Dominion completed the repairs to the pipe. Detours were put in place while the work took place.
