ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. — As of 11 a.m., the overturned tractor trailer has been removed and traffic flow is slowly returning to normal on I-26 eastbound in Orangeburg County.

The collision had affected drivers heading towards Charleston on I-26 near mile marker 164, about one mile west of Exit 165/SC 210 to Bowman and Vance. All eastbound lanes were blocked.

South Carolina Highway Patrol had detoured traffic using Homestead Road (exit 159) to US-178, then to SC-210, and back onto I-26 at mile marker 165.

The accident occurred around 2:42 a.m. Wednesday when a car and a tractor trailer collided, causing the truck to overturn and the car to run into a ditch. A passenger in one of the vehicles was flown to a nearby hospital with injuries.

Crews had been working since 8 a.m. to remove a tractor trailer from the highway.
