SUMTER, S.C. — A major route in Sumter has reopened after a crash earlier in the day that dropped powerlines on the road on Saturday.
According to the Sumter Police Department, a portion of Lafayette Drive was temporarily closed at Phillips Street because of the crash forcing both north and southbound traffic for some time.
The police department warned of possible power outages in the area as well, however, official outage maps didn't show any significant issues in the area as of noon.
Sumter Police confirmed just before 6 p.m. that the road had officially reopened.
