Kershaw County coroner identifies woman killed in Wednesday crash

Both the Kershaw County Coroner's Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol are investigating.

KERSHAW COUNTY, S.C. — Authorities have released the name of a woman who died on Wednesday in a crash in Kershaw County.

According to Kershaw County Coroner David West, the crash happened in the 2 p.m. hour along Lockhart Road near Stretch Drive near Camden. 

Lance Corporal Tyler Tidwell with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said that the victim was headed east on Lockhart Road when her 2008 Toyota Scion and a 2021 Hyundai Genesis collided head-on.

The crash sent the driver of the Genesis, which overturned, to the hospital by helicopter and killed 61-year-old Tamara Ann Stephens who was driving the Scion.

Authorities said Stephens was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Both the coroner's office and SCHP are investigating the crash.
