Lexington County crash leaves one dead, another injured on Saturday

The victims' Jeep left the road way and struck a power pole, official said.

BATESBURG-LEESVILLE, S.C. — A driver is dead and a passenger has been hospitalized following an early morning crash near Batesburg-Leesville on Saturday morning.

According to Corporal Tyler Tidwell with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 4:45 a.m. on Augusta Highway near Breezy Hill Road.

Tidwell said a 2006 Jeep Commander was heading south on the highway when it traveled to the right off the road, hit a power pole, and then overturned.

The crash killed the driver and the passenger was taken to Lexington Medical Center for treatment of unspecified injuries. Neither the name of the deceased driver nor the condition of the injured passenger has been released.
