LEXINGTON, S.C. — Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the individual killed in a single vehicle crash early Sunday morning.
Lexington Police shared around 7 a.m. that a motorcycle crash had temporarily shut down all inbound and outbound lanes of Augusta Highway and Calks Ferry Road, near Cedarcrest Drive (near Bee Safe Storage and SAFE Federal Credit Union).
First responders and investigators worked at the scene but the victim, identified as 21-year-old Giovani Maya Garcia, of Gilbert, died at the scene from injuries sustained in the accident.
According to reports, Garcia was driving southbound on Augusta Highway when his motorcycle veered off the left side of the road, striking a traffic signal. Garcia was thrown from the motorcycle.
Lexington Police did say that there were no other vehicles involved.
