LEE COUNTY, S.C. — A motorcyclist is dead after authorities say he was involved in an accident that happened Thursday night in Lee County.
South Carolina Highway Patrol Lance Corporal Tyler Tidwell said the crash occurred around 9 p.m. in the area of Green Lane and DuBose Road. He said the rider of a 2019 Honda motorcycle was heading west on Green Lane when he ran off the right side of the road and struck an embankment.
The rider was wearing a helmet but ultimately died at the scene. A spokesperson for the Lee County Coroner's Office later identified the victim as 46-year-old Chip Yon of a Green Lane address.
In providing his age, the coroner's office also confirmed that the accident occurred on Yon's birthday.
