COLUMBIA, S.C. — A motorcyclist has died after a Friday morning crash on Broad River Road in Columbia.
Corporal Tyler Tidwell with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said the crash happened around 10:30 a.m. in the area of Broad River Road and St. Andrews Road.
According to Tidwell, a 2019 Mitsubishi was pulling out of a private drive to make a left turn when it was struck by a 2003 Kawasaki motorcycle. The driver, and the only occupant of the Mitsubishi, wasn't hurt. However, the rider of the motorcycle later died after being taken to Prisma Health Richland Hospital.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. The Richland County Coroner's Office hasn't yet publicly identified the rider who died.
