One killed in two-vehicle crash on Broad River Road, near Irmo

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Sgt. Sonny Collins of the South Carolina Highway Patrol reports one person is dead following a two vehicle crash in Richland County.

The incident occurred at approximately 10 p.m. Sunday, March 13, 2022, on Broad River Road (I-176) near the intersection of Lake Murray Boulevard (SC-60).

A 2012 Jaguar traveling east on Broad River Rd. crashed into a 2003 Lexus traveling west on Broad River as the driver of the Jaguar was attempting to evade law enforcement.

The driver of the Lexus was not wearing a seatbelt and was killed. Richland County Coroners Office has not yet released the name of the deceased driver.

The driver of the Jaguar was wearing a seatbelt and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident.
