ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. — Authorities say a passenger died on Saturday, one day after a single-vehicle crash that also sent the driver to the hospital.
According to Master Trooper Mitchell Ridgeway with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 12:30 a.m. on Friday between Vance and Holly Hill on Friday on S.C. 310, also known as Camden Road, near Lodge Hall Street.
Ridgeway said a 2023 Ford Mustang left the road and struck a tree. The vehicle's driver, a person from Summerville, was taken by helicopter to Prisma Health Richland Hospital. The passenger, a person from Holly Hill, was also taken to the hospital but died on Saturday afternoon.
The coroner's office has not yet released the victim's name. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is still investigating the crash.
