COLUMBIA, S.C. — Richland County Coroner Naida Rutherford has identified the person who died following a Thursday night accident in northeast Richland County.
South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP) Master Trooper David Jones reported that the incident happened around 11:55 p.m. on US-1/Two Notch Road at the intersection of Nates Road -- just past the I-20 interchange.
According to Trooper Jones, a 2011 Nissan Armada SUV was traveling north on Two Notch Road when it struck a pedestrian in the roadway. The driver of the SUV was unharmed, however, the pedestrian died from his injuries.
Coroner Rutherford's office identified the pedestrian as 53-year-old Luis Lizardi of Columbia, South Carolina.
SCHP and the Coroner's Office continue to investigate the incident.
