RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. — A pedestrian died after being hit by a truck exiting the interstate, investigators confirmed on Sunday.
The crash happened just before 9 p.m. on Saturday as a 2019 Ram 1500 pickup truck was attempting to exit I-77 South onto Shop Road.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the truck ended up striking a pedestrian that was in the roadway. The pedestrian, who was not publicly identified by the highway patrol, died at the scene of the wreck.
The highway patrol statement made no mention of any charges for the driver or any other factors surrounding it as their investigation continues. The Richland County coroner is also involved in the investigation.
