CALHOUN COUNTY, S.C. — Investigators say a pedestrian is dead after being struck by two cars while walking on a Calhoun County road on Wednesday night.
Lance Corporal Nick Pye with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said the crash happened around 9:30 p.m. on Sweet Bay Road near Sunny Plain Road - just off of I-26 and roughly 7.5 miles west of St. Matthews.
According to Pye, the victim in the crash was walking east in the westbound lanes when they were struck by two sedans, a 2012 Infiniti and a 2012 Toyota that were heading west.
After being struck, the pedestrian was taken to Prisma Health Richland Hospital and was pronounced dead. Neither driver was hurt.
Authorities haven't announced any charges in the crash and said the investigation is still underway.
The Calhoun County Coroner's Office has not yet released the name of the victim.
