COLUMBIA, S.C. — If you are traveling in the area of South Assembly Street in Columbia, please be aware a portion of S. Assembly will be closed Wednesday and Thursday, August 23-24, as CSX makes repairs on a portion of track that crosses the road.
Work is scheduled to begin in the 600 block -- near the former Capital Stadium -- at 6 a.m. Wednesday and continue through 6 p.m. Thursday as CSX rips out and replaces a new panel along the railroad track.
South Assembly is a main artery for off-campus students traveling to the University of South Carolina. Motorists should plan ahead and seek an alternative route. Traffic will be diverted through the Olympia and Rosewood neighborhoods.
