Pedestrian killed in crash on McCords Ferry Road in Richland County

The driver of the Dodge was not injured and was the only person in the vehicle. However, the pedestrian died at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash.

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. — A crash that happened on Friday night has left one pedestrian dead in Richland County.

Lance Corporal Brittany Glover with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said the crash happened around 9:21 p.m. on U.S. 601, also known as McCords Ferry Road, near Patterson Circle roughly five miles north of Eastover.

Based on preliminary information, Glover said a 2015 Dodge Challenger was heading south on McCords Ferry Road when the vehicle collided with a pedestrian who was crossing the road.

The driver of the Dodge was not injured and was the only person in the vehicle. However, the pedestrian died at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash.

The Richland County Coroner's Office has not yet publicly identified the victim in the crash.
