COLUMBIA, S.C. — The City of Columbia is warning drivers that a major intersection will soon be undergoing extensive repairs daily beginning Monday.

The City of Columbia Street Division released an advisory on Thursday warning that the roadway on Parkridge Drive at Harbison Boulevard will be closed on Monday at 7 a.m. and remained closed until 4 p.m. - a process that will continue until unspecified repairs are completed.

While not being worked on by Columbia street crews, the road will be plated and reopened for afternoon traffic. While work occurs, drivers, including emergency vehicles, are being urged to take alternate routes.

The nearby Prisma Health Baptist Parkridge hospital and all businesses along Parkridge Drive will still be accessible from Lake Murray Boulevard, authorities said.

City authorities said they plan to issue updates as repairs progress. Additional information will also be released when the project is finally completed.
