FOREST ACRES, S.C. — South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) will be hosting a public meeting to discuss a proposed replacement of a bridge over Unnamed Creek on Lakeshore Drive in Richland County.
The meeting -- 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24, at Bethel United Methodist Church at 4600 Daniel Dr. -- would have a drop-in format and would provide displays for viewing and an opportunity for the public to provide written comments. The replacement project would address structural deficiencies found in the bridge.
The new bridge would accommodate two 10-foot travel lanes with 6-foot shoulders and would be located with a slight offset to the west of the existing bridge structure.
According to SCDOT, right of way acquisition would begin the second quarter of 2023, with construction to begin after right of way acquisition and utility phases have been complete. Construction is estimated to take approximately 10 months. Traffic in the area would be detoured while construction is taking place.
