KERSHAW COUNTY, S.C. — An early morning accident in Kershaw County has sent one person to the hospital and killed another.
Lance Corporal Nick Pye with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said the crash happened around 12:10 a.m. on eastbound I-20 about a mile past the exit to U.S. 601.
The crash involved a 2015 Ford Sedan and a 2013 Infiniti Sedan which were both heading east at the time of the crash. Authorities said that somehow the two vehicles collided forcing each off the road.
The Ford went off the road to the left into the median. The Infiniti went off the road to the right and struck a tree. The Infiniti driver ultimately died of their injuries and the Ford driver was sent to the hospital. That driver's injuries were not disclosed.
Details regarding what caused the crash are still under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol. The agency deferred to the county coroner for additional information about the deceased driver.
