Victim killed in Eastover crash identified by coroner

Mecca Windsor was killed when the vehicle she was in left the road and hit a tree, authorities said.

EASTOVER, S.C. — The Richland County Coroner's Office has released the name of a woman who died in a Tuesday morning crash in the Eastover area.

According to a statement released on Wednesday morning, authorities said 29-year-old Mecca S. Windsor of Sumter was the person who died in the crash, which happened around 3 a.m. on US-601 near Governor Heyward Road.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol said previously that the crash involved a 2013 Hyundai that was traveling south on US-601 when hit left the road to the left and hit a tree.

Highway Patrol is still investigating the crash and the Richland County Coroner's Office is working along with them.
