CHARLESTON, S.C. — A restroom in South Carolina is a finalist for the best in America according to a company that knows a thing or two about them.
Cintas Corporation compiled a list of 10 restrooms based on cleanliness, visual appeal, innovation, functionality, and unique design from around the country.
It includes everything from airports to bars, but it's the facilities in one Charleston bakery that may just raise the bowl for everyone.
Inside the Hotel Bennett resides La Pâtisserie, a themed bakery that defines decadence. But patrons who wonder more deeply into the restaurant are restrooms that, according to Cintas, "are the closest to France you'll get without hopping on an airplane.
From "chic gold-accented wallpaper" to "elegant wall sconces," the restroom has accouterments more fitting on the walls of a five-star restaurant than its back rooms. And perhaps none of those are more impressive than its chandeliers - yes, really.
Also, it comes complete with fully enclosed, private stalls, the list states, so you don't have to share the magical experience.
But, will it be named the best in America? Lavatory aficionados have only a short time remaining to make that decision. Voting ends on Aug. 31.
The winner will be named to the America's Best Restroom Hall of Fame, and receive a Cintas UltraClean restroom cleaning service along with $2,500 in facility services or restroom cleaning.
