COLUMBIA, S.C. — School is back in session!
At least for a few counties here across the Midlands. The good news is that while hot, the weather should cooperate to start things off!

As we start off the work week, rain chances looks to remain somewhat lower as the stalled front dissipates to our north and is replaced with high pressure. Highs will still be in the middle 90s with dewpoints in the 70s. This means afternoon heat index values will continue to reach the triple digits.

Highs on Monday are expected to reach the middle to upper 90s in the afternoon. We can expect a few showers and storms but I think most communities across the Midlands stay dry again.

Towards the middle and end of next week moisture looks to increase leading to and increase in our rain chances. Scattered storms on Thursday and Friday look like our best chance of rain for the week. A cold front might try to make it into the area by the weekend which would not only provide another chance of rain but would lower our highs to right around 90 by the time we get to Saturday and Sunday.
