COLUMBIA, S.C. — Dry, cooler, and breezy conditions are expected today following the passage of a cold front. Throughout the weekend, cool, dry weather is predicted. A fast-moving cold front could bring a slight chance of rain late Monday into Monday night, with another cool air mass moving in for the middle of next week.
Strong cold air advection will occur today following the passage of the cold front. Cooler air will spill into the Midlands. Expect breezy conditions from through the afternoon. Wind gusts of 20–25 mph are possible most of the day, but gusts could peak in the 25–30 mph range at times this afternoon, especially across the central and southern Midlands.
High temperatures today will be in the lower 50s under mainly sunny skies. Skies will be clear tonight. Lows will be in the lower 30s on Saturday morning.
The holiday weekend will be dry and quiet. Temperatures will be in the lower 50s Saturday afternoon. It could be breezy at times. A few passing clouds will be possible, but the skies should remain mainly sunny over the weekend.
The last day of the year will be sunny and seasonable. Highs will be in the middle 50s Sunday afternoon. A few clouds will be possible on Sunday night. At midnight, temperatures will be in the lower 40s under partly cloudy skies.
More clouds will be possible Monday, for the start of the New Year. As of Friday morning, we only have a slight chance of rain on Monday. High temperatures will be in the upper 50s to near 60 degrees.
The next best chance for rain is Thursday, in the form of scattered showers.
