Clouds and a few stray showers are possible today

Expect dry weather on Friday and through the weekend, with temperatures warming up nicely.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Get prepared for weather changes as a slow-moving cold front moves our way, bringing unsettled weather conditions later today until early Thursday. Rain chances will decrease by Thursday evening as high pressure moves in, but it will become a little breezy on Thursday. Looking ahead, expect dry weather on Friday and through the weekend, with temperatures warming up nicely.

It was partly cloudy Monday. Temperatures were in the middle 60s Monday afternoon. Tuesday started off with lots of cloud cover. The clouds will stick around throughout your day. There will be a small chance of an isolated shower this afternoon and evening, but most of us will likely stay dry. High temperatures will be in the upper 60s to near 70 degrees.

The cold front will stall across South Carolina tomorrow. Scattered showers are expected Wednesday. It will not rain all day long. There will be hit-and-miss rain showers, with a small chance of a few storms. The best chance for rain appears to be in the eastern and southern half of the Midlands.

It is a bit tricky to pin down the exact rainfall amounts, but it looks like there is a chance for significant rain between I-20 and I-95. With potential totals ranging from 2-3 inches or even more in some areas due to repeated showers and storms, there is a concern for flooding, especially along I-95. The Weather Prediction Center has maintained their marginal flood risk outlook for Wednesday and Thursday.

On Thursday morning, a coastal low will develop. As that system moves along the coastal region, rain will continue to impact the eastern and southern parts of the state. The low will move out, and this will push moisture away from the coast quickly, bringing in dry air for Thursday afternoon and Friday morning.

Dry, very warm weather is forecast for Easter weekend. Pollen levels will increase over the weekend too.
