COLUMBIA, S.C. — After a rainy weekend across the Midlands, cool and dry air is moving into our area behind the cold front and will leave nice conditions for the holiday this week.
New Years Eve will be sunny across the region with high temperatures in the upper 50s to near 60°.
By the time we ring in the New Year at Famously Hot New Year in downtown Columbia, temperatures will be in the low 40s, so definitely grab your jacket for any outdoor celebrations. Skies will be mostly clear throughout the night.
New Years Day will also be mostly sunny and nice with high temperatures in the upper 50s.
Looking ahead to the end of the week, another storm system will approach the Midlands starting Thursday afternoon.
There is a small chance for rain late Thursday, before showers are likely throughout the day on Friday and into Saturday morning.
The rest of the weekend looks to be dry and seasonable with lows in the 40s and highs in the low 60s.
