COLUMBIA, S.C. — It is about time we get some sunshine here in the Midlands. It has been yet another gloomy and cloudy day and we even saw some showers moving through the area. That rain will end overnight and we will begin to dry out. Clouds look to stick around but, as high pressure builds in we are expecting the possibility of some sunshine later in the afternoon on Monday. Temperatures will be a bit warmer especially if the clouds begin to thin early As of right now we look to reach the middle to upper 50s for most places in the afternoon.
Tuesday, sunshine will be plentiful but that doesn't mean we warm up much. High pressure will keep our winds out of the northeast meaning our highs only reach the lower 50s in the afternoon.
Looking at the middle of the week, an area of low pressure in the central US will be bringing the chance of rain back into the forecast. Showers will be likely ahead of the cold front associated with this system late Wednesday but, the bulk of the rain looks to fall on Thursday.
The rain should move out pretty quickly and behind it we see drier and colder weather move into the area. Highs will be in the 50s to even upper 40s with sunshine as we go into next weekend.
Past that, heading towards the Christmas holiday. things are looking to remain cold with multiple chances of rain likely as we close out the end of the year.
