COLUMBIA, South Carolina — A cold front will move through early Saturday morning, bringing in cooler and notably drier air. As a result, the Midlands will see significantly cooler temperatures, with overnight lows over the weekend expected to be the coldest the region has experienced in some time.
Dewpoints are anticipated to decline through Saturday morning, ultimately falling into the 30s during the evening hours. Winds will shift northwesterly, with speeds increasing to around 10 mph and gusts reaching as high as 20 mph. Gusts will diminish after sunset this evening.
Despite plenty of sunshine, daytime highs on Sunday may struggle to reach the upper 60s. Light winds and clear skies will allow Sunday night temperatures to drop into the lower 40s. Frost is not expected anywhere in the forecast area.
Temperatures will gradually return to more typical values next week, with the next chance for rain not arriving until mid to late next week.
