Cooler days and crisp nights return as fall breezes into South Carolina's Midlands

Cozy clouds, cool breezes, and a taste of fall throughout this week.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — A fresh wave of fall weather has arrived! After a cold front swept through, Sunday brings a refreshing cool-down, setting the stage for lower temperatures that will stick around through Monday.

Expect clouds to linger, casting a cozy, autumnal vibe across the northern and central Midlands. A light chance of drizzle will complete the scene. A crisp northeast breeze will keep highs in the comfortable mid- to upper 60s, a nice drop from the recent heat.

As clouds stay put on Sunday night, temperatures will dip into the 50s for a pleasantly mild evening. Monday keeps up the cool trend, with a little more sunshine and a gradual warm-up on Tuesday, when high-pressure nudges temperatures back into the mid-70s. Though there’s a slight chance of showers by the coast, the rest of the week looks beautifully dry and comfortable.

With a gradual return to sunny skies, expect mild nights and, possibly, some early morning fog near lakes and rivers. This week promises a pleasant shift from the recent heat, with autumn-like conditions just in time for midweek.
