A freeze warning is in effect for Tuesday morning for Fairfield, Newberry, and Saluda counties.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Cooler, drier air will move into the area for the start of the workweek. There is a chance of freezing temperatures on Tuesday morning. After that, expect dry weather and warmer temperatures by the middle of the week. Towards the end of the week, showers will be likely on Friday.

There were a few showers Sunday across the Midlands, but many areas stayed dry. The Columbia airport hit a high of 73 degrees. Today will be cooler, with highs in the middle 60s. Our average high this time of the year is 69 degrees. A few clouds will be possible as a cold front approaches, but no rain is expected.

Temperatures will only warm into the lower 60s on Tuesday afternoon under sunny skies. The spring equinox is also Tuesday, but it will still feel chilly.

Gradually, temperatures will moderate through the workweek. Rain is likely Friday, but the weekend should be mainly dry.
