COLUMBIA, S.C. — We had another cloudy and cold day here in the Midlands even with some rain. Light showers pushed through the area in the afternoon and evening. Light precipitation will be possible into the overnight hours with temperatures staying steady for the most part thanks to the overcast conditions.
Going into Monday, winds look to shift from the south which will make for a much warmer day here in the Midlands. The cloud cover should be pretty stubborn once again but if we do see any sunshine that would likely push us close to 80 degrees in the afternoon. Right now, middle to upper 70s look to be likely for most of us in the Midlands.
Talking rain chances, the best chance of seeing precipitation will come in the evening and night hours of Halloween. A cold front will fire off the precipitation around 4-5 pm in the afternoon with isolated showers and thunderstorms look possible. Once we get to the evening, the rain chances look to go up to around 50 percent with scattered storms from 6 through about midnight. The peak rain chance look to be right around 8-10 pm as of right now. This will impact any trick-or-treat plans for tomorrow here in the Midlands.
As the rain moves out in the early morning hours on Tuesday, we see quiet weather return back into the area as high pressure builds over the southeast. Highs will be slightly warmer than average with sunshine and dry weather returning back into the forecast.
