There will be plenty of things to view in the April sky across the Midlands. Planets will be a big focus of this month.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — It is the end of March so let's take a look at some of the great pictures we got from our WLTX Weather Watchers on Facebook! These pictures included many featuring the moon throughout the month but, we also got some photos of the International Space Station that flew over the Midlands around mid-March.

Looking towards the month of April, we have some really exciting thing to view in the night sky here in the Midlands.

March 30- April 1

As we end out the month of March there will be a couple planets visible in the morning sky. Mars, Venus and Saturn will be forming a triangle in the eastern sky before sunrise. Conditions for viewing look better on the 1st so try to get out then!

April 3

The International Space Station will be visiting the Midlands once again! This is a pretty interesting pass as it will be a bit later. The starting time is right around 9:18 PM it will become visible to the Northwest but, because of the time it will get fainter as it approaches straight overhead. Once there it will vanish in the night sky as it enters Earth's shadow.

April 30

The last morning of the month will feature probably the most exciting thing to view in the night sky: The Conjunction of Venus and Jupiter! This will be a must-see if weather conditions allow. Venus and Jupiter will only be .25° apart in the Eastern morning sky as their paths cross in the night sky.
