COLUMBIA, S.C. — We have a warm forecast for Sunday, but it is going to be a wet forecast.
On the radar, we do see some showers and storms making their way near us, but we aren't going to start to see any of these until around the afternoon. Almost all of the Midlands is at a marginal risk for severe weather - a one out of five. The biggest threat with this weather is going to be damaging winds.
Around 2:30 p.m. the western side of the Midlands in Saluda and Newberry, Lexington is going to start seeing some of these showers with storms continuing throughout our Sunday.
At 4:30 p.m., it looks like we're in the clear, but as we go into the evening hours, the southern Midlands are going to see a strong chance of very strong storms with damaging winds.
At 6:30 p.m., Aiken, Orangeburg, Calhoun, Clarendon, and Sumter residents shouldn't be surprised if they hear some loud thunder outside.
The storms are expected to remain heavy through 7:30 p.m. But overnight should be dry in the early hours until our next chance of rain moves in early on Monday morning.
Keep in mind that as you head out on Monday, around 6:00 a.m., you should expect to encounter rain.
