More sunny, dry, and warm South Carolina weather

A cold front will move through over the weekend. Temperatures will drop closer to normal.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — High pressure and dry air over the eastern United States will maintain a stretch of rain-free weather, with temperatures staying above normal through Saturday. However, a few cold fronts will bring some changes, especially by Sunday, when temperatures could return to more typical or even cooler levels. Although rain is unlikely for most of the week, there is a small chance of showers from Saturday night into early next week.

Satellite images show mostly clear skies across the region, with just a few clouds near the coast. Overnight, temperatures will stay mild, with most areas dipping into the mid to upper 50s.

A cold front will move from the Great Lakes into New England, pushing the current high-pressure system out into the western Atlantic. Despite the front, dry air will remain in control, meaning another sunny day with highs in the low 80s. Overnight temperatures will stay warmer than usual, in the middle 50s.

As we move toward the end of the week, a weak cold front will make its way into the region on Friday. While this front will not bring any rain, it will slightly lower temperatures. Thursday will see highs in the low to middle 80s, while Friday will be a bit cooler, with temperatures in the upper 70s to lower 80s.

The very warm, sunny weather continues today. Here is this morning's seven day forecast.

This weekend brings the most significant changes. Another cold front will move in on Sunday, following a warm and breezy Saturday. Highs on Saturday could reach the low to middle 80s, but by Sunday, cooler air will settle in, with temperatures dropping to the upper 60s and low 70s.

There is a chance we could see some rain showers from Saturday night into early next week, though rain amounts are expected to be light. The cooler temperatures will continue into early next week, making for a more autumn-like feel.
